Here are some of the activities that we have been involved in :-

Sainsburys Alphington collection, October 2015

Branch members collected outside Sainsburys at Alphington Road on Sunday 4th October, and we are grateful to all who helped fill our buckets to the tune of £394.40.  Those who have kindly supported us in this way can be assured that the money will be put to good use in furthering the Foundation's work.

As well as financing research into the causes and treatment of heart disease the Foundation helps with the provision of vital equipment to local surgeries and hospitals, and in locating portable defibrillators in the community.

Thanks are also due to the management and staff of the store for giving us the opportunity to collect, and for making us welcome on the day.

Community defibrillator for Newton St Cyres

The branch was able to help the Newton St Cyres Community Support Group in their fundraising efforts to provide a defibrillator for the village.  The defibrillator is located at the Crown & Sceptre pub in the middle of the village and local people have been trained in its use.

Rotary Fun Run

We were pleased to be associated with the Rotary Club of Exmouth Raleigh in their Boxing Day 2014 Fun Run along Exmouth seafront.  The proceeds were split between the BHF and Rotary charities.  Over 100 brave souls took part and we received the sum of £225.

Thanks to Lamb Inn Skittles League

We are grateful to the skittlers at the Lamb Inn in Sandford who chose the BHF to benefit from their fund-raising efforts in 2014.  The sum of £300 was received.

Exeter Canal Walks
From time to time we hold a sponsored walk along the Exeter Canal.  Those taking part are able to enjoy walking the towpath and other paths in the beautiful Riverside Valley Park.  Most of the walkers usually complete the full 11 mile walk from Exeter Quay to Turf Lock and back while others opt for a 5 mile route.

Exeter Racecourse collections

On several occasions our volunteers have carried out a bucket collection at race meetings at Haldon.  Fortunately the punters usually have some money left to give us!  Our thanks to the management for this opportunity to raise funds.

The British Heart Foundation depends upon volunteers for much of its fundraising work, and we are always glad to hear from anyone willing to give us a hand from time to time. Just call one of the numbers on the Local Contacts page for a chat about the possibilities.
